“We are excited about the job opportunities that will be offered and look forward to working with you all.”
King presented Vertical President Smoke Wallin with a key to the city.
Vertical is one of the nation’s largest hemp companies, and this facility is a part of of an initial $5 million investment to cultivate, extract, and manufacture CBD products. Wallin partnered with the Bramer Group to open the facility in Cadiz.
Drew Milburn, chief operations officer for Vertical, spoke about why the company chose Cadiz for the new facility.
“We looked around the commonwealth, and we could smell success right here in Cadiz, so we decided to come here and plant ourselves. We do consider it a blessing and intend to treat the community with respect and be good stewards of this industry. We hope to expand from here. We will do all we can to benefit this particular region and the entire commonwealth.”
Congressman James Comer also spoke at the opening.
“This is an industry that is growing like none other in the state of Kentucky,” he said. “I believe that hemp is going to be one of the major crops in Kentucky for many years to come. This plant produces a lot of products that are in high demand.”
Comer talked about the benefits of hemp and CBD. He said that hemp is a sustainable and high yielding plant that can replace products being made with plastic and chemicals.
“I take CBD oil,” Comer said. “This is something that I take for my inflammation and arthritis, and I can tell it works. I think the future is very bright for this industry. I think the future is very bright for this company and I think this community is going to benefit greatly in the future because of this announcement here today.
Vertical will bring about 125 jobs to the Cadiz plant and expects to add more jobs as the company grows.
