Background Checks Required for Missourians Wanting to Farm Hemp - My Moinfo

(Farmington) The Missouri Department of Agriculture will spend November collecting public comment on their proposed rules for hemp production licenses.

The department plans to begin taking applications from interested and eligible producers as early as December 2nd, the day after the comment period ends.

Missouri Ag Department Communications director Sami Jo Freeman says producers will need to complete a background check.

Freeman says the department’s proposal spells out procedures for two different applications.

Freeman says with Missouri’s industrial hemp program exiting the pilot stage, there is no limit to how many producers can grow hemp or how many acres they can grow.

The proposed rules are available on the Missouri Department of Agriculture website with public comment underway right now.
